I've recently bought a late 2015 Mazda 6 2.2d Skyactiv. The car has 79k miles on with good service history. At 60k it had a new Turbo and at 64k it had a full carbon clean at the main dealers So far I've done about 600 miles in it, a mix of motorway (a couple of long trips, 120 miles each way) and town driving.
22 March 2010 at 11:23AM. Hi. I own a 2.0 Mazda 6 diesel (06 plate). When the DPF system regenerates, any unburned fuel is returned to the sump thus diluting the engine oil and giving potential for all sorts of problems. It is vital to keep checking the oil level to ensure the sump doesn't over fill. IMHO it's a silly system.
Asked on 30 August 2016 by David Holmes. Answered by Honest John. (a) Yes. (b) These problems seem to come from drivers shutting off the engines while the DPF is actively regenerating. But it is crucial to keep an eye on the oil level. if it rises, fuel is getting into the sump and the engine oil needs to be changed promptly.
Injectors were clogged and carbonized. You need to check via OBD PM_ACC_DSD (in ForScan or other) - normal values are between 0-6,0g/l - after it starts DPF regeneration. I realized that my car must drive on 4th gear to not clogg fast, 3th gear is a killer Probably i will need some injectors calibration. Reply Like.
Let's explore how we can make the DPF last for a long long time without problems. In this video you will be able to see:* General overview of How the DPF work
What Does Code P2463 Mean? OBD II fault code P2463 is a generic code that is defined as “Diesel Particulate Filter Restriction – Soot Accumulation”, and is set on all diesel applications when the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) detects an excessive accumulation of solid particulate matter (diesel soot) in the diesel particulate filter

The system is called Diesel Particle Filter (DPF) and it has been implemented by Mazda on all its diesel engines. The Mazda cX5 DPF problem may arise due to a number of factors that will be discussed in this article but first let’s outline the indication of the problems. Signs of Dpf problem . Diesel is not "added to the DPF filter", it is injected into the exhaust stroke of the engine. It then vapourises and travels to the DPF down the exhaust pipe.
The reason why the dipstick has an X mark, if for oil dilution, when your car does a DPF burn some of the diesel ends up in the sump of the car and it waters down the oil (makes it thinner) at the X mark it must be changed, if not you could find you have a runaway diesel engine, in other words, it won't shut off when it should and it'll rev out
My sons car, a Mazda 6 diesel estate had all the problems associated with the DPF filter. Eventually he got it removed and the ECU reprogrammed. Since then he has covered 30000 miles and sailed through 2 MOTs without any problems. As the law stands at the moment in the UK. Removal of a DPF filter will not cause an MOT failure. Reply Turn the steering wheel to full lock at very slow speeds to the right and the left and listen for the sound, a quiet car park is usually the best place to do this. Check for crash repairs that haven't been done correctly. These can lead to body rust and a weakening of the complete structure. Read the article.
Oil dilution occurs due to failed DPF regeneration - either caused by DPF failure (they have a limited lifespan), or driving conditions unsuitable for effective DPF regen. It's a well known issue with Mazda Skyactiv-D engines, just Google "mazda diesel oil dilution" and you'll find many people in the same boat as you are.
